The changes were made during the parc fermé, which came back into force after qualifying. Between the sprint race and qualifying, F1 teams still had the opportunity to make adjustments to their cars. Williams decided to still change the setup before the start of the GP at the Shanghai International Circuit.
Apart from some time at the start, Sargeant loses little by doing so, as he was already in the last starting position behind Yuki Tsunoda and Lewis Hamilton. Williams have their reasons for the adjustments, with an eye on the next race. "Logan will start today’s race from the pit lane which enables us the opportunity to experiment with the setup and learn more about the car ahead of another upcoming Sprint event in Miami," reads the team's statement.
