Father Perez sees Checo as a regular for F1

Sergio Perez's father, Antonio Perez, thinks his son will continue driving in Formula 1 for another decade. He states that 'Checo' is currently the 'most sought-after driver' in F1, partly because he is said to have more sponsors than 'Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton put together'.

Perez is currently without a contract for next year, but his father says that is only a matter of time. "At the moment, he is the most sought-after driver on the grid," he said firmly. He is, therefore, convinced that we will not see the 34-year-old Perez retire in the near future. "He will continue for another 10 years. Just look at the age of Alonso," he added. Alonso will continue to race in Formula 1 until he is at least 45.

According to his father, the fact that Perez is the most sought-after driver in Formula 1 has partly to do with his sponsorship value. "Checo has a lot of potential. He is the most sought-after driver in F1 at the moment and, above all, he has the most sponsors, more than Max and Hamilton put together," Antonio claimed. "The best promoter of anything in the world is Sergio Perez. There is never any merchandising left from him because it always sells out very quickly."

Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner and advisor Helmut Marko have been particularly enthusiastic lately about Perez's performance. He has had a strong start to the season and managed to finish second behind Verstappen in most F1 races. On the terms of a contract extension, the parties do not yet seem to be in complete agreement: Perez wants a multi-year contract, while Red Bull is reluctant to do so.
