Last season, McLaren managed to make a huge leap in the middle of the year. The team were competing for podiums all at once, whereas, at the beginning of the season, they were not. In Miami, the British racing stable will also come up with upgrades. Team boss Andrea Stella believes these upgrades will be noticeable.

It was a surprise when McLaren suddenly performed at the British Grand Prix. During qualifying, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were still putting their cars in second and third place. Norris eventually managed to convert this starting position into a spot on the podium. His teammate did not manage to do so.

Will McLaren make another big move?

The rest of the year McLaren also remained strong, with regular podiums. This season, the British racing stable has only been on the podium in two races. Stella does not think the upgrades will change the current form so significantly: "This upgrade will not be as big as the two that we had delivered last year in Austria and Singapore, but it should be a decent step. Like it should be noticeable."

Stella continued: "I cannot say much more than that, because otherwise we talk about numbers I would like to keep confidential, but let's say not as big probably as Austria and Singapore, but noticeable. If things correlate with our expectation, with the wind tunnel numbers, for instance, and with the computer simulation, it's always a big if, because even if the heat rate of this correlation has been good over the last twelve months, there's always possible surprises."
