Hamilton is compared to Senna: 'Can bring the team together'

David Coulthard believes Lewis Hamilton could bring something new to Ferrari and the Italian team would be to build on that. The former F1 driver believes that seven-time world champion's leadership is something to consider in his transfer.

'He brings people together'

Coulthard highlighted what Hamilton can bring in for the Italian team. "I'm not sure he's known for bringing technical staff with him. When he left McLaren, where he'd been for several years and went to Mercedes, I'm not aware of anyone moving with him. But what he definitely brings, other than his speed, and his commitment, he'll have an ability to bring together any sort of divisive elements within a team, and as you know, as you get into having a few hundred people, or in the case of Ferrari, a few thousand people, they cannot all be friends."

'Like Senna did'

The former Red Bull Racing driver also compared Hamilton to F1 legend Ayrton Senna, who is also one of the Briton's role models. "That's where the leadership of the driver, whether it was Ayrton Senna, who you would have met over the years, he brought a team together. I worked with him briefly at Williams before he, sadly, was killed. And when he walked in a room, slowly but surely, everyone stopped talking and turned to him, waiting for him to say something. It was the most mesmerising thing I've ever experienced. And I think Lewis Hamilton has that ability."
