Perez doesn't expect to see Verstappen leave: 'Everyone is committed'
- Cas van de Kleut
It is chaos within Red Bull Racing. This week, it was announced that Adrian Newey is leaving the team, and there are rumours of more people leaving. One of those where a departure is a possibility is Max Verstappen. Teammate Sergio Perez, however, does not think a complete walkout is imminent.
Even before the season started, things were chaotic within Red Bull. An allegation against Christian Horner came out. There was an investigation into this possible inappropriate behaviour, after which Britt was cleared. However, the frenzy did not end after that, as there was also said to be a power struggle going on within the team.
This power struggle may have led to several key people wanting to leave Red Bull. Newey's departure could be a reason for Verstappen to also leave the team. Indeed, the Dutchman previously made it clear that he did not want to leave as long as the success team stayed together. With the departure of the chief technical officer, the first important person from the success team is already gone.
Perez on Verstappen's possible departure
Despite Newey's departure, Perez does not think Verstappen and other key people will leave the team: "I think everyone is fully committed to the team. We're having a tremendous season once again. The future looks bright in the team. I think it's normal that you have this sort of movement within some people, but I think the organisation remains really strong and I don't see any more changes in that regard."
