Bad news for Mercedes: F1 team called to the stewards
Mercedes were not having a good day in Miami after a disappointing sprint qualifying session, but now, added to that misery, they must visit the stewards. A representative of the Formula One team has to come forward to explain a pitlane incident that occurred during a pit stop with Lewis Hamilton.
Mercedes to the stewards
During sprint qualifying at the Miami International Autodrome, a report appeared from race control announcing that a pitlane incident by Hamilton was under investigation. After the session ended, it became clear which incident was involved.
It concerns a possible safety incident: a Mercedes representative is to report in connection with the 'failure of team personnel to wear helmets' during Hamilton's pit stop during SQ2.
A penalty would be an additional setback for Toto Wolff's team, which saw George Russell and Lewis Hamilton get no further than 11th and 12th place in sprint qualifying.
