With the departure of Adrian Newey, Red Bull Racing loses not only a figurehead, but also the man who, as the driving force behind the F1 team, made the Austrian squad a currently invincible machine. Perhaps with the departure of the Briton there will be a decline in performance, especially if more people leave the team in the coming period.

Christian Horner indicated in Miami on Friday that he did not expect a walkout at Red Bull to follow, as key people within the team have long-term rolling contracts. Zak Brown, McLaren's CEO, certainly does not rule out more and more Red Bull staff leaving the factory door in Milton Keynes. Indeed, Brown reveals, "Yes, we've seen an increase in CVs coming in our way from the team."

'Red Bull is going to miss Newey'

Moreover, the American believes that Red Bull is definitely going to miss Newey's input. "I think Adrian is the most successful designer of all time. So in addition to the technical that he brings to the racing team, people want to work for people like Adrian Newey and work alongside him. So I think they'll [Red Bull] be missing what he brings to the team from a pure technical point of view. And then I think the leadership and the excitement people get from working with him will be missed."

Newey's future is still uncertain. Whilst the Briton has indicated he wants to take some time off, teams such as Ferrari are interested in Newey's services. Williams has also already held talks with Newey about a return to the British team. McLaren is not linked to Newey as yet.
