Hamilton not leaving Mercedes because of row: 'Have so much love for this team'
- Cas van de Kleut
Lewis Hamilton is swapping Mercedes for Ferrari after the 2024 season. The Briton has enjoyed years of success at the Silver Arrows, but currently, things are running rough at the team. Despite the lesser results, the seven-time world champion tells CBS that the relationship has not been damaged.
It must have been a transition: from years of being successful and winning almost everything to two-and-a-half years of winning nothing. Hamilton is in a difficult phase of his career. However, he will hope to regain his older form at Ferrari to still win his record-breaking eighth world title.
No quarrel between Hamilton and Mercedes
Over the years, of course, Hamilton has enjoyed enormous success. He therefore says: "For me, this whole journey has been massively emotional. Just because I have so much love for this team. I'm not leaving because I'm unhappy there. I'm not leaving because of relationship issues. They've been with me through thick and thin. So, it's definitely a strange transition at the moment."
The seven-time world champion also talks about how he is still trying to get the most out of himself and his team: "We exist to win. And when you're not winning, your perspective has to shift. And it's just then about chasing and it's about improvement. It's about coming together. How can we make improvements? How can we get back to where we want to be? And rallying everyone up. I actually really enjoy that experience."
