McLaren has made huge strides over the past year and a half. The team, which entered the new regulations in 2022 with high expectations, initially failed to live up to the expectations. This has since changed. CEO Zak Brown also sees the improved performance and points to a key link in the team's development.

Last year, McLaren did not start the season well. The car was too slow to compete for the higher positions. Suddenly that changed at the British Grand Prix, with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri starting from P2 and P3. Subsequently, the Woking-based team has been competitive in almost every weekend for the rest of the season.

The team's big moves came when Andrea Stella became the team boss of McLaren. Andreas Seidl left the team to become CEO of Sauber, after which Stella succeeded him.

Brown praises Stella

Brown is very appreciative of the team boss, he told Sky Sports: "He's really changed everything. If you look at the start of the year, he's just changed a few people and then put Andrea in charge. He's just done an unbelievable job leading the team, getting everyone very focused, communicating, listening, leading by example. He's very demanding but he's very thoughtful. As far as leaders go, he's as good as you get."
