Norris reveals the astonishing price of his winning trophy
Lando Norris secured his maiden win at the Miami Grand Prix and has done his share of press since then. On Monday morning, he was live on BBC Radio 1's Breakfast show with Greg James. He even brought along his winning trophy, and left the host shocked when he revealed how much it costs.
On the radio show, Norris revealed he had brought along the white and gold trophy. However, he revealed that despite him winning it, it is not his to keep: "You know what the worst thing is? Team McLaren have always, always, always received every trophy. They always get the original."
"I don't even get this one. I have to buy a replica. And I'm not even going to tell you how much it cost me."
How much does an F1 trophy cost?
This then turned into a guessing game, with James beginning at £10,000. Norris continued to deny the cost of the trophy, until the host guessed £50,000, leaving James stunned: "Oh my God! What about that?" to which Norris replied: "I didn't say yes."
For Norris, this isn't the first piece of silverware he has won. Prior to his win in Miami, he had secured 15 podiums in F1, including eight 2nd places. Nevertheless, with both McLaren cars heading into the next grand prix in Imola with upgrades, the team certainly hopes to add to their collection.
