Jamie Chadwick scores first podium in the US at Indianapolis
Abbi Pulling was not the only female driver over the weekend who achieved success. Jamie Chadwick has become the first female driver to finish on the podium in the Indy NXT series since 2010. Chadwick finished third on the Indianapolis Road Course during the first race of the weekend.
Three-time W Series champion Jamie Chadwick is the first female driver to stand on the podium in the American competition this decade. This was the British driver's first podium in the American series for the Williams driver. The last time a female stepped on the podium in Chadwick's current series was in 2010, when Pippa Mann won at the Kentucky Speedway. Back then, the series was still called Indy Lights.
"I'm super happy. We've had good pace all season so far, so to be able to convert it into a podium result is just such a great feeling. We've had good pace all season so far, so to be able to convert it into a podium result is just such a great feeling. The No. 28 team and I have been working so hard and after the first two races, it's exciting to finally get this one in the bag," she was quoted on Williams Racing's website.
Chadwick finished the 2023 Indy NXT season 12th, and she is now 13th in this year's championship. Her next race in the series will be at the Detroit Street Circuit on 2 June.
