Ericsson has a heavy crash during free practice for Indy 500 (video)
- Ludo van Denderen
Former F1 driver Marcus Ericsson knows what it is like to experience a heavy crash. Who does not remember his huge crash at Monza, in which the Swede flipped over several times? Ericsson now also knows the wall at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The former Formula 1 driver hit the wall hard on the third day of free practice, only to come to a stop on the other side of the track - and hit the concrete again.
Ericsson was not injured in the incident. The same can be said for Linus Lundqvist, who was also able to get out of his car unscathed after also crashing. The fastest of the day was eventually Pato O'Ward, driving for McLaren's IndyCar team. The Mexican was a fraction faster than Scott McLaughlin. Reigning IndyCar champion Alex Palou finished third.
The No. 28 is into the wall!
