Gravel trap frustrates world champions: Hamilton and Verstappen caught out
FP1 was a challenging session for both Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton at the 2024 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Especially one combination made the pair's day worse: Acque Minerali.
Throughout the first practice session, there was one constant. The two world champions, who won every title since 2017, could not find the right way to get through Acque Minerali without either losing time or finding themselves in the gravel trap.
The Briton took it a bit better, as throughout the session, he also waved to the tifosi. However, the Dutchman, as on his final lap once again found himself in the gravel trap, was really frustrated to say the least, and even punched his steering wheel.
