Lando Norris is the latest winner of a Grand Prix in F1. In Miami, the Briton managed to climb the top step of the podium thanks to a great strategy with some safety car help and some great pace afterwards. In Imola, McLaren's updates will be put to the test once more. Lando Norris looks back positively on the first day in Imola.

The McLaren team came up with major updates in Miami. These seemed to work, as Lando Norris managed to win the same Grand Prix. In Imola, it remains to be seen how the new updates will work. In FP1, the Brit managed to set the eighth fastest time. In FP2, he had to make do with twelfth place.

Norris sees his chances clean in Imola

Despite these positions, Norris is satisfied with his first day of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix weekend. "Yes, I think, on the whole, a pretty reasonable day. A little bit of a messy FP1. We had the rakes on the car, so we're doing some aero testing. Then we had a couple issues with the car after that, so it was not the cleanest, straightforward day, but I think we made a really good step from FP1 into FP2. And once I got comfortable, yes, I felt pretty good out there. I think we're in a good position. It was quite gusty, and obviously, it calmed down a little bit. But on the whole, a positive day and a good start to the weekend."

The Briton is confident that with minor adjustments he can be at the front of the field for qualifying on Saturday. "Right now, I'm not sure. I think we kind of have to look at the data and compare ourselves to others. Compare ourselves to Red Bull, Ferrari, and Mercedes, who also seem pretty quick. And yes, just trying to understand a little bit where we stand relative to them, but just putting little bits here and there. I think, like we seem relatively quick. I didn't get my lap in at the end, but I think we're in a good position. I don't think we need to change too much. It's just small little tweaks and putting it all together. Simple as that," Norris said.
