"Yes. It hurts me to say, but one or two more laps, I'd have had him. I thought hard until the last lap, but lost too much to Max at the start," Norris began just after he jumped out of his McLaren during the on the grid interview.
By the end of the race, Norris was putting pressure on Verstappen, and he crossed the finish line within a second of the Dutchman. "It was a tough first half and a better second half. One or two more laps and it would've been beautiful. But not today," the McLaren driver added.
The Briton, who was also elected to be Driver of the Day by the fans, continued: "We are at a point now where we can happily say we're in a position [to fight] with Red Bull, we have to get used to that. We're now fighting for first and second. It's a surprise to say it's frustrating not to win, but it's what we should start to expect."
