It is still uncertain who will be in the second seat at Red Bull Racing in 2025. Sergio Perez 's contract expires, as do those of many other drivers. So there are many options for the Austrian team. Team boss Christian Horner will give an update on next year's second seat after the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

Speaking to the media, including GPblog, Horner says: "I think that the whole driver market is sort of playing itself out. And we know exactly where we're at and where our options are and in the timing that's right for us, we'll make decisions about the future."

Perez's future at Red Bull

Perez is still an option, but there are privateers lurking. For instance, Red Bull has also said they are interested in Carlos Sainz. According to the latest rumours, the Spaniard would also like to move to the Austrian team, but that decision would depend on Verstappen's future rather than the Mexican's.

Perez himself has made it clear that he would still like to stay at Red Bull, only the difficulties would lie with the length of the contract. Checo is said to have a multi-year deal in mind, while Red Bull would like to extend the contract by just one season. Despite that, Horner does not expect any major problems with any negotiations with Perez: "Checo is always a very straightforward guy to deal with, so I wouldn't expect that to be an issue."
