Max Verstappen was not waiting for provocative fans during qualifying. As he drove into the pit lane, many people clapped, but there was one person who gave his thumb down as the Dutchman drove by. This fan was then treated to a middle finger by the Red Bull driver. The fan apologised via TikTok after qualifying.

Verstappen mentioned the altercation between him and the fan after qualifying. He explained, "I raised my middle finger to him. The next time I drove by he clapped, so he did learn something from it."

Haters Verstappen apologise

The latter is certainly the case. Indeed, the Ferrari fan, who attended the race weekend with a friend, apologised in a video after qualifying: "We want to say we are sorry. It's our fault, not yours, that you raised your middle finger."

Fans were so impressed by Verstappen's reaction that their opinion of the Dutchman has completely changed: "We were so proud of that middle finger. We were jumping around like little girls. We want to thank you Max, after you did that you became a legend." Then the two fans also asked if Verstappen would give Ferrari a chance in the race. This did not happen in the end.
