Drama weekend for Red Bull? Verstappen under investigation for this in FP3
- Sandy van Wijngaarden
As in Imola, Red Bull's team is not having a strong weekend in Monaco so far. The Austrian racing stable is searching for speed and optimal settings. What adds to this now is that Max Verstappen will be examined by the stewards after the third free practice session for a moment in FP3.
In the third free practice session, Verstappen seemed to have found some speed. He fell just a little short of matching Charles Leclerc's time. The Dutchman eventually closed the session in second place. The question is whether Red Bull Racing can find some final improvements in the next few hours before qualifying.
Lots of traffic in Monaco
The street circuit in Monaco is, of course, very narrow. Several drivers suffered from traffic and complained about it on the team radio. FP3 saw mostly qualifying runs. In this, it is important to be able to create a gap to drive this lap without traffic.
At the end of the third free practice session, a moment by Max Verstappen was noted by race control. Namely, the Dutchman was driving unnecessarily slow. This will be investigated by the stewards after the session. It remains to be seen whether the triple world champion will receive a penalty for this. He will visit the stewards at 14:15 local time (13:15 BST).
