Norris ready to race at the front and is hungry for more
McLaren and Lando Norris are getting ever closer to constantly fight for victories in Formula One. After winning in Miami, then finishing less than a second behind Max Verstappen in Imola, Norris eventually finished fourth in Monaco. However, the Briton now has a different feeling when he sits in the car.
Norris explained that now, there is an added bonus when he now sits in a car, given McLaren's recent success. "I'm so relaxed, I'm still excited just to go and have another crack at it and see what we can deliver. Mentally, the approach has not changed. It's probably more exciting," Norris told GPblog among others about the difference of fighting at the front.
"I look forward to it more because I know I have a better chance of being on the podium or maybe winning a race. It really kind of makes me more excited and a bit more hungry for it," the Briton underlined, as McLaren seem to have cut the gap to Red Bull together with Ferrari, at least on certain tracks.
Same Norris, new goals
However, Norris also declared that this does not change him as a driver. "Even when you're in the 10th best car or whatever, you go out and you always have that hope of just trying to deliver the best stuff you can."
"The approach of just going out and driving really doesn't change for me or for my team around me and the people that I work with. Things could be more costly if it doesn't go right. So actually it's kind of do as normal because normal is very good," the one-time Grand Prix winner concluded.
