Piastri reveals his greatest achievement so far

Following the 2021 F2 championship, Piastri didn't have a seat lined up in F1. Instead, he became the reserve driver for Alpine for the 2022 season. In the same year, he announced that he would be joining McLaren in 2023, and since then has signed a contract extension to the end of 2026. When asked what one of his proudest moments is, the Australian revealed: "I think, for me, just trusting that I would get there [into F1]. There's often doubts that come with that. You know, am I doing the right thing? Is this going to work?"

"Especially trying to get to F1. The chances of it are statistically incredibly slim. But trusting that if I did everything I needed to do, worked hard, worked with the people around me, that I could get there. So I think that's probably the biggest thing. Of course, the successes you have along the way are very cool," he added. 

What is Piastri's greatest achievement? 

Neverthelesss, Piastri has a series of achievements to be proud of. In 2019, he won the Formula Renault Eurocup, followed by the 2020 FIA Formula 3 Championship, and then the Formula 2 Championship in 2021 with Prema Racing. This makes him the sixth driver to win F2 in their rookie season, and the fifth driver to win F3 and F2 in consecutive seasons. He is also the first driver in history to win all three championships in successive years. 

Now, despite having three podiums from his F1 career, the McLaren driver has revealed what achievement he is most proud of: "For me, winning the three junior championships I did are very, very proud moments for me, especially Formula 2. I think that's really kind of the first time it properly sunk in that I could make it to F1. I always aimed to get there, but it always seems so far until you get to that last step. Winning that was definitely a proud moment of my career and of my life," Piastri concluded.
