Verstappen happy with Perez's extension: 'a successful partnership'
- Cas van de Kleut
Max Verstappen has struggled in the past three races compared to the first few races of the season. The low point was in Monaco, where the Dutchman finished in sixth after a disappointing qualifying session. In Canada, the championship leader is more confident, and has reacted to the news of Sergio Perez extending his contract alongside him at Red Bull.
"Following a more difficult weekend in Monaco, this week I have been with the team back at the factory and in the sim preparing for the Canadian Grand Prix," Verstappen began. "The track there is very unique, has some old school kerbs and there are plenty more opportunities for overtaking. It is even more important to have a good set up of the car and find a balance between the straight line speeds as well as good stability under the braking."
Verstappen's reaction to Perez's contract extension
On Tuesday, Red Bull announced Sergio Perez 's contract extension. The Mexican has signed on until the end of 2026. This means he will remain Verstappen's teammate for two more years.
Verstappen is happy with his teammate's contract extension: "Finally, it is great news that Checo has signed with the Team until 2026 and I am glad to be able to continue with the successful partnership that we have created over the past few years. We achieved a record-breaking season last year and the team is very strong, so we are looking forward to building on this success into the next two years as well." Concluded the reigning world champion.
