There will be a new special guest on Sky Sports' for this weekends Canadian Grand Prix. One-time world champion Jacques Villeneuve will join the British crew this weekend, who has previously made appereances on French and Italian TV.

Jacques Villeneuve is Canada's only world champion in Formula One, having achieved that in 1997 with Williams, after he crashed with Michael Schumacher in Jerez during the final race of the season. His father was the famous Ferrari driver Gilles Villeneuve, who the circuit in Montreal is also named after.

Villeneuve joined F1 from the American circuit, and was signed by Williams after he was crowned as CART series champion in 1995 and also won the Indy 500 the same year. Before he won the championship in F1 in 1997, he finished second behind Damon Hill in 1996, and after a struggling season with the British team, he joined BAR.

His time at BAR and then BAR Honda from 1999 to 2003 was not the most successful, as he could only pick up two podiums after he joined the team. He almost sit out the 2004 season entirely, but he drove for Renault during the final three rounds. In the next two seasons, the Canadian competed for Sauber, but he was replaced by Robert Kubica at the 2006 Hungarian GP.

Over his F1 career, Villeneuve has had 11 Grands Prix wins and 23 podiums, together with 13 pole positions. In 2008, he was close to completing the famous Triple Crown together with Peugeot, but his team finished second at the 24h of Le Mans race.
