Red Bull Racing, unlike last season, has a lot of competition with McLaren and Ferrari. Helmut Marko, advisor for Red Bull, therefore, sees that the Austrian racing stable has a lot of work to do to return home from Canada with a good result.

Ferrari and McLaren getting close

Red Bull started this season well. With impressive pace, Max Verstappen finished in first place in Bahrain, ahead of his teammate by 22.457 seconds. But this dominance has been absent in recent races. Verstappen and Perez have not been on the podium together since the Chinese Grand Prix. Red Bull was also completely absent from the podium in Monaco, due to this, the competition seems to be catching up with Red Bull.

"We have lost the dominance of the first three races," Helmut Marko told the Austrian Kronen Zeitung. "The competition caught up with us in the third year of the current regulations. They have copied some, and they have improved some." According to the consultant, there is not much room for innovation anymore. "This is simply logical development."

Logical development does appear to be cutting Red Bull's lead short. Canada could, therefore, be a tricky circuit for the Austrian racing stable. "Ferrari are better in this respect, also in terms of top speed," says Marko. "The fact is that we are not going to Canada as the favourites!"
