It was Sergio Perez that was signed by Red Bull for the upcoming two seasons, and not Yuki Tsunoda. The Japanese driver now wants a commitment to be shown to him from Red Bull. He also underlined that other teams have started to show interest in him.

"Best season of my life so far, it will come more in the future. I'm not really rushed. Other teams started to get interested in me which is a good thing," Tsunoda told GPblog among others ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix weekend. "Just have to grow more, and at the same time hopefully, Red Bull will understand more and see more of my potential performance and maybe can change in the future," he declared in Montreal.

Tsunoda has interest from elsewhere but said that, in principle, he is first talking to Red Bull. Both he and Daniel Ricciardo are linked to the parent team and loaned out to VCARB. "And if teams are happy, I'm happy. Hopefully, we can have a formal discussion. But it's definitely ongoing. Hopefully can be on the same page. Currently, we're having a good I would say discussion." He later added: "[There are] Ongoing discussions."

Tsunoda continued: "Good thing is that I also got a couple of options from others. It’s good I am able to grow. Especially in this interesting driver's market, I wanted to make myself secure to focus for the rest of the races and now definitely priority is Red Bull, make sure we are on the same page because Red Bull is part of my life so far and without them we wouldn't achieve this."

Similarly to Sergio Perez, Tsunoda is also looking for a multi-year deal. "Depends on the multi-year. I would like to see in the contract more commitment from them. Obviously I'm talking already with Red Bull a lot and hopefully I can have a bit more commitment from them. We are all happy with the Red Bull family, and maybe this year is kind of interesting year having interest from others."
