Verstappen stresses that problems have not yet been solved in Canada

Max Verstappen knows the Canadian Grand Prix will again not be the best ground for the RB20. The Dutchman did not want to get too busy with rivals in Montreal but knows it will be a difficult weekend.
At the start of the Formula 1 season in 2024, Verstappen looked set to easily walk away with the world title once again. In the last few races, however, it has become clear that it will not be that easy after all. For instance, Lando Norris won in Miami, the same Norris almost trumped Verstappen in Imola and Charles Leclerc won in Monaco.
What Verstappen expects from the Canadian Grand Prix
The title race has thus come alive, but that seems to matter little to Verstappen. "It feels the same. I just try to focus on what we have here. We have plenty to work on. We knew that already, but naturally after Monaco, I think we have a good direction to work in, and that's actually quite exciting. I'm not focused on what the others are doing because that's just a waste of time and energy. We know that from our side there are things that we can do better, and that's what we'll focus on. We still have a very strong team."
Still, the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, with its bumpy kerbs, is not ideal for the RB20. "This is something that we know is not our favourite thing in the world, but it's something that we're working on to try and make better. And this takes time. This is not something that is solved from one to the other week, but for sure we'll try to optimise things."
With a car that is perhaps less capable at this circuit, you would expect Verstappen to perhaps do a rain dance before qualifying and the race. However, nothing could be further from the truth after a question from GPblog: "I don't mind, honestly. If it's dry or wet, it's fine."
