Tsunoda stays at Red Bull: Visa Cash App RB use option in his contract
Yuki Tsunoda will stay with Visa Cash App RB at least until 2025. The team and the driver officially announced this before qualifying in Canada. Tsunoda is thus entering his fifth season for Red Bull Racing's sister team.
Yuki Tsunoda made his debut in Formula 1 in 2021 after only a short motorsport career in Europe. The young Japanese driver was only introduced to racing in Europe for the first time in 2019 and things moved quickly from then on. A Honda protégé, Tsunoda was also included in the Red Bull Junior Team and after a third-place finish in F2 in 2020, his F1 debut followed.

The speed was evident from season one, but the rough edges had yet to come off. In the first two years, Tsunoda was able to hold his own against Pierre Gasly and by the end of 2022, the two were almost equal. Since Gasly's departure, Tsunoda has taken charge and has consistently been the fastest of the team. Meanwhile, with Nyck de Vries, Liam Lawson and Daniel Ricciardo, he had several teammates in two years.
Tsunoda seemed to be exploring his options for 2025 and 2026. For instance, the Japanese was also mentioned at Haas and Audi. Red Bull now seems to have acted early, as the press release mentions an option that has been lifted in Tsunoda's contract. With that, Tsunoda is locked in at Visa Cash App RB through 2025.
