Leclerc not happy: 'In FP3 we already knew something was wrong'

It was a terrible qualifying session for Charles Leclerc at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Whilst it wasn't as bad as Sergio Perez's result, the man from Monaco failed to reach Q3. Reflecting on qualifying in Montreal, Leclerc said he was surprised.
Leclerc reacts after qualifying for Canadian Grand Prix
After qualifying for the Grand Prix, Leclerc spoke to several media outlets, including GPblog. "We are just not fast enough and unfortunately that's it. In FP3 we were nowhere on the dry. In qualifying we were nowhere on the dry as well. I don't have any explanations for now. In FP3 already we felt that something was wrong."
But Ferrari couldn't solve it. "We couldn't see what was wrong and that was exactly the same in qualifying. The grip was just extremely poor in the first sector especially and then once you slide in the first sector there's the snowball effect and you never really get the performance out of the car. So difficult weekend until now," Leclerc said.
Ferrari went to this circuit in Canada as one of the favourites. The underperformance of Leclerc and Sainz make it all the more painful, the Monegasque explained. "Very surprising. I did not expect that and it's obviously disappointing but we've got a race tomorrow and I believe that in the race the issues that we have had in qualifying will be a bit different," he added.
