Sainz reflects on qualifying in Canada

Sainz remains positive despite debacle: 'Taking home points'

It was definitely not Ferrari's qualifying in Canada. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz finished 11th and 12th, respectively, and thus were not even allowed to take part in the final and most important part of qualifying. Sainz reflects on the disappointing session after qualifying.

Sainz reacts after qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix

"It was a tough Saturday for us," Sainz explained. "We had problems with grip and couldn't get the tyres to work properly. On the last lap in Q2, I tried everything, but unfortunately, I didn't manage to take the last corner, and with that, I lost my chance to go through to Q3. I remain positive for tomorrow and I think we can still take home some good points. We will do our best."

Sainz will start the Canadian Grand Prix from 12th place, alongside teammate Leclerc on the sixth row of the grid. "Yeah, we will see. I think there are two or three factors that could spice up the race, which are the weather and the graining, there was a lot of graining in FP, and a lot of mixed weather coming tomorrow, so these two things hopefully will make the race a bit chaotic, and will mean that we move forward."
