After taking a win in Monaco, the Ferrari 's speed proved very disappointing in qualifying in Canada. Charles Leclerc will start the Grand Prix from 11th place. Nevertheless, the Monegasque is optimistic about his chances ahead of the race.
Both Ferraris failed to get into the third qualifying session. Charles Leclerc finished 11th and Carlos Sainz 12th. Nevertheless, Leclerc sees plenty of opportunities to move forward during the race. "It wasn't an easy day yesterday, but today obviously the weather is quite unpredictable which gives us some opportunities to come back to the front so we'll have to use that opportunity in the right way," he told the drivers' parade.
Leclerc has high hopes for Canada GP
The Monegasque is even still hoping for a podium finish. ''If it's fully dry, the pace that we have shown until now hasn't been very strong however everything is possible. We'll keep our head down and if we get on the podium that would be amazing. Realistically I think the top five is a good target to have on a track like this with the performance we've had until now. A podium is my target today."
The changeable weather forecast in particular gives hope to the Ferrari driver. 'I think in damp conditions and wet conditions we have been very very strong. In
the dry for some reason, especially in qualifying we didn't quite find the pace we wanted but in damp conditions we are strong so we are optimistic." Leclerc said.
