Sergio Perez makes this public apology for his disastrous weekend in Canada

Sergio Perez has publicly apologised for his performance during the Canadian Grand Prix weekend. The Mexican failed to escape Q1 on Saturday, putting him towards the back of the grid for Sunday's race. Perez failed to advance significantly in the race and then retired following a mistake that put him in the barrier.
Everything was rosey on Tuesday as Red Bull Racing announced a contract extension for Sergio Perez. But those positive feelings have diminished following the first Grand Prix weekend since. In fact, Perez wanted to bounce back after scoring zero points in Monaco, but he replicated that result in Montreal.
Perez makes an apology
Fans on social media have roasted Perez for his incident. The 34-year-old spun and hit the barrier. He managed to continue on his way, but the rear wing was broken beyond repair. Red Bull are also aware that McLaren and Ferrari are consistently in the mix for race victories, with Mercedes also getting in on the act this weekend. Max Verstappen took a dig at Perez during the press conference because he was fighting against their rivals alone.
Perez took to X himself to say sorry for the mistakes made. He promises to make a return to form: "I'm very sorry for my team, I let them down today. But we will come back, no doubt. There’s a very long way to go."

Red Bull team boss Christian Horner also backed Perez to come back fighting. The next Grand Prix takes place in Spain, and Perez will need a good result to break the bad run of form.
