Red Bull Racing have won in Canada despite the difficulties it is experiencing in recent race weekends. Max Verstappen managed to beat Lando Norris and George Russell at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Christian Horner remarked after the race that Mercedes was fast, but then also shares a sneer at the German racing stable.

For a long time, Russell was competing for victory. The Briton started the race from pole position and then stayed in the lead for a long period. In the end, Norris and Verstappen passed the Briton in fairly close succession, with the Dutchman eventually gaining the upper hand with the help of a safety car.

Mercedes do seem to have taken a step in the right direction. Nevertheless, Horner still wants to keep an eye on the situation around the silver arrows: "I think Mercedes have always gone very well on green circuits, and there were no real high-speed corners here, so with the asphalt change, it played possibly to their strengths. So I think, let's see over the next two or three tracks if it's genuine form or if it's a one-off."

Horner responds to downgrade ruling of Allison

James Allison, Mercedes' technical director, has claimed that Red Bull downgraded with the latest new parts put on the car. Horner reacted vehemently to this: "Well, even with our downgrade, we managed to beat their upgrade. So it was a rewarding race to win."
