Ricciardo explains which change helped him get a better result
After a period of struggle at Visa Cash App RB, Daniel Ricciardo has finally had a great weekend at the Canadian Grand Prix. The Australian finished in P5 in qualifying, and then earned four points during the race. Together with Jacques Villeneuve's comments that also fuelled him last weekend, the Australian shared another reason why he could to better.
Ricciardo has explained that together with his team, they have reworked on his schedule for the weekend in Canada. As a result, less time was allocated to sponsor events. "Yes, we've certainly tried to alter a few things and I think, of course, you know, the sponsors that are helping us race and pay the bills, of course we got to give them time, but it's probably the little five minute ones here and the five minutes there that maybe we don't need to be doing," the Australian has explained to GPblog and others.
"Sometimes it's random stuff, it's not even that I should be sitting in my room staring at the ceiling. That time can be with the engineers and everyone's mind can be put at ease that we've done our homework and we're prepared to jump in the car," Ricciardo added on how he could improve because of this change.
He concluded: "So it's just all these little one percenters, which, again, I think it just helps everyone's mindset. And when we get into the session, we feel like we're ready to go."
After Ricciardo was questioned by former world champion Jaques Villeneuve about why he is in F1, the Australian scored points for the second time in 2024 with finishing in P8 at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
