Nyck de Vries has an unfortunate start to the day's 24 Hours of Le Mans race. The Dutchman sustained damage during the warm-up prior to the legendary race.

During the warm-up, De Vries drove into the back of Kelvin van der Linde's ASP-run Lexus RC F GT3. The South African was driving at a slow pace and the Dutchman realised this too late. Indeed, De Vries was making adjustments to the settings on his steering wheel. The former Formula 1 driver then drove his Toyota with start number 7 back to the pit lane.

The damage to the car can be repaired in time. De Vries will therefore compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans as normal, along with Kamui Kobayashi and Jose Maria Lopez. The team will start at the back of the legendary race. During qualifying, Kobayashi set the fourth fastest time, but because the Japanese driver caused a red flag afterwards, this time was nullified.
