Ricciardo determined to prove himself: 'It's the start of where my season continues to progress'
Daniel Ricciardo had a strong weekend in Montreal where he finished eighth and out-peformed his teammate Yuki Tsunoda. With Tsunoda's seat confirmed for 2025 with the team, the Australian must prove himself to retain his. Ahead of this weekend, he shared his expectations for the Spanish Grand Prix, and his own performance.
Ricciardo hopes to show his improved performance
This weekend Formula One returns to Europe, which Ricciardo predicts to be competitive for everyone. "Barcelona is always a track where everyone brings updates, so I think it’s going to be a really competitive weekend. Let’s see what everyone brings. I’m excited to drive it with the faster last sector that they changed for last year. I’m looking forward to getting back on that track. Normally, it’s quite familiar but we didn’t do any testing there this year, so should be fun," Ricciardo said.
This weekend is the start of the triple header, with the Austrian and British Grand Prix set to follow. Ricciardo revealed after Monaco he reflected on his performance with the team, which in turn helped in Montreal. The Visa Cash App RB driver is now determined to keep up the good performance he had in Canada, and push ahead further: "I’m looking forward to keeping this run going, trying to get some more Q3 appearances and points finishes. I’ve been waiting a while, but I like to think it’s the start of where my season continues to progress and show performances like I did in Montreal. Really looking forward to it and excited to get the European leg started!"
