Since Adrian Newey announced his departure from Red Bull Racing, many teams have been vying for the legendary designer's signature. Aston Martin is rumoured to have given Newey a private tour of the Silverstone factory. Current Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll has reacted to what a Newey's possible arrival would mean for the team.

"Well, it's a super exciting factory. It’s a young team, but a very exciting project. I mean, wind tunnel, everything that you already know. That's very exciting about our team," Stroll said to GPblog and others in Spain on Thursday.

Stroll loves the idea of Adrian Newey at Aston Martin

The Canadian sees the rumours regarding Newey's future flying around his ears and takes them with a pinch of salt. Nothing has been announced yet, after all. "Well, I think everyone in this paddock wants Adrian Newey. I hear a lot of things, mainly from you guys. I mean, last week I heard he was going to Ferrari and now he's coming to us. Next week he's going to be going to Williams. So I listen to you guys. I mean, you tell me more." Stroll said.

'He has more championships than anyone in this paddock'

Still, the three-time podium finisher hopes Newey eventually chooses Aston Martin. "I mean, he's a legend of the sport. He has more championships than anyone in this paddock. Drivers, engineers, anyone. So yeah, I mean, I think everyone loves Adrian and wants Adrian."

Could Newey make Aston Martin a championship-winning team?
