Liberty Media confirms F1 growth
Liberty Media has compared the growth of Formula 1 to that of the Champions League and Bundesliga.
Liberty Media released the statistics in an official statement claiming they wanted to remember the type of sport they defend.
“The 81,093 spectators for every Sunday of the race is almost twice the number of those who saw the Bundesliga (average per game of 44,657) and the Champions League (46,630) in its 2017-18 season.” The company said in a statement.
Commercial director Sean Bratches was particularly glowing in his words saying: “With almost 200,000 spectators in each Grand Prix, and more than 80,000 in the stands in Sunday's race during the season, it is demonstrated that these great numbers are favourable to us in relation to other important sporting events, which confirms a growth trend.”
The statistics show a 2.7% increase in attendance from last year and four major events show an increase of more than 10%, like the Austrian Grand Prix which rose 27.6%.
The total number of spectators who were at an F1 event for at least one day was at last over four million.
