Leclerc shares what he talks about with Hamilton each weekend
In 2025, Charles Leclerc will have his third teammate at Ferrari, as Lewis Hamilton will replace Carlos Sainz in Maranello. Talking to Sky Sports, the Monegasque driver shared what the two drivers chat about over a Formula One weekend.
According to Charles Leclerc, the Ferrari driver cannot tell Lewis Hamilton much either about the Italian's progress at the moment. "This [Hamilton joining Ferrari] is a very little part of our discussions because obviously he's still 100% focused on his season this year in Mercedes. So we cannot exchange about everything yet."
The pair talks about their shared interests about becoming teammates, Leclerc added. "I think 80% or 90% of what we speak of is more about private stuff and just about how life is going and music and all of these kind of things, which is always nice."
After some fierce rivalry with Nico Rosberg at Mercedes and Fernando Alonso at McLaren back in the day, Hamilton gets on reasonably well with George Russell, and he usually refers Valtteri Bottas his favourite teammate, so the fact that the two chat during the weekends already is definitely pleasant for team principal Frederic Vasseur.
What does Leclerc expect from Hamilton joining Ferrari?
The Monegasque driver looks forward to having a new teammate from 2025 onwards after he previously went head-to-head with Sebastian Vettel and now Carlos Sainz. "[It is] a huge opportunity to learn from the best ever, as well as a huge motivation to show what I'm capable of. I'm really excited about this new challenge and we have a great relationship as well," Leclerc explained.
