Pierre Gasly has explained why he has decided to stay with Alpine for the 2025 Formula 1 season despite the recent struggles the French team experienced. Alpine currently sit seventh in the World Championship, but Gasly is focusing on the long-term project.

Alpine confirmed the contract news on Thursday morning ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix weekend. The team confirmed that Gasly will stay at the team in 2025 and beyond. This means he will remain at Alpine when the new rules and regulations are introduced in 2026.

Why Gasly remains at Alpine

"I feel very much at home at this great team. I enjoy being a real part of both the Formula 1 project and the wider Alpine Cars vision. I’ve been officially here for over 18 months and it has always been the plan to build a long-term project with the Team," Gasly said before acknowledging the difficulties.

"While on-track it’s been a challenging season so far, I remain faithful to the project and I am not going anywhere. I am happy with the changes made, the hard work, and the direction the team is taking. There is a lot of potential in this team’s personnel and resources. I’m excited for what is to come in the future, and right now, I’m focusing on the everyday details that we are putting in to improve our performances," he concluded.

Just last week, Alpine confirmed the return of Flavio Briatore. Gasly's teammate has not been confirmed for 2025 yet, but it won't be his current teammate Esteban Ocon.
