The Mercedes team has made no secret of its desire to bring in Verstappen to replace Lewis Hamilton, who leaves for Ferrari next year. Although Verstappen still has a contract with Red Bull Racing until 2028, small cracks seem to be gradually appearing in the marriage between the triple World Champion and his employer. So will Verstappen actually move to Mercedes? Sky Sports analyst Martin Brundle shines his light on the Dutchman's future.

"The plot thickens, doesn't it? It does appear that Mercedes-Benz are hanging around waiting to see what happens with Max Verstappen at Red Bull whether that's for 25 or 2026, time will tell, and there is apparently a side letter that is an exit clause with Dr Helmut Marko, allegedly, according to the paddock should Max want to leave. Horner and Max have so far been very consistent in saying he is not leaving, but it seems like they are mostly talking about next year. I don't know, it seems like something is going on," Brundle said.

Brundle impressed stoicism Verstappen

The British TV analyst concluded his account by complimenting Verstappen. Brundle is impressed by the calmness shown by the Dutchman. "Max's talent has had to shine through hasn't it, Max had to sort of dance around from Bahrain onwards with all the shenanigans that are going on in the team, sort of inter-team politics that involves his dad, it involves the team, his team principal, and Max somehow had to tread a very fine line through the middle of that, and then go out and absolutely dominate the races in the early part of the season is hugely impressive," Brundle concluded.
