Mercedes have been fined €5,000 for the incident in the pit lane. This is for an unsafe release out of the garage during Q3. Hamilton himself will avoid any sporting penalty for the Austrian Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton was investigated by the stewards after an unsafe release during Q3 in qualifying at the Austrian Grand Prix. The seven-time World Champion was exiting his pit box for his first lap in the final qualifying session around the Red Bull Ring, but as he did so, he pulled over a jack that was stuck on the back of his W15. He pulled it over in the process, and it landed just outside the garage. He saw the stewards at 17:55 local time as a result after qualifying in P5.

Hamilton finished fifth in qualifying and benefitted from Oscar Piastri's deleted lap time at the end of the session. The seven-time World Champion was beaten again by his teammate in Q3. Russell will start from the second row.
