Norris reveals the extent of repairs following clash with Verstappen

After a dramatic incident towards the end of the Austrian Grand Prix with Max Verstappen, Lando Norris believes he could be on the backfoot at his home event. This is because of the damage caused by the crash, which forced Norris to retire from the race at the Red Bull Ring. 

McLaren to run repaired floors 

The result of the crash in Austria for Lando Norris was a puncture, which wrecked the floor of his McLaren. Because of this, Norris feels that his team "may not be in the perfect place" considering the cost cap rules. 

Ahead of the British Grand Prix this weekend, Norris said "Everything is ok," when asked about the state of his car, but he did admit that it will be the long-term that is affected more.

"We have some spare floors that were already damaged before, which we’ve been able to repair and get things ready for," Norris continued; "The team has done an amazing job to get things ready. We knew with three races in a row, easily things can go wrong and you can easily have a lot of damage. It’s not hard to damage a floor in the first place – you run over a kerb and it can be damaged quite easily. So, the team did a good job to make sure that we had enough, [that] we’ve got some more for this weekend, and some repaired ones."

The British Grand Prix is the final leg of this triple header, with Spain and Austria the first two parts. Norris revealed that his team had always intended to stock up on older parts that could be repaired and reused in case of damage in a busy part of the season like this. 

Norris concluded by saying "So, a bit of a shame, but the team did a great job to make sure everything is ok for this weekend."
