Zak Brown, with McLaren, is quite willing to race hard in the battle with Red Bull and Max Verstappen but nasty (dirty) racing is out of the question as far as he is concerned. In a press briefing with multiple media, including GPblog, racing with Red Bull came up. The McLaren man also sees what it takes to become world champion in Formula 1.

Last races, Norris was able to give the Dutchman serious match on the track, which means McLaren is now battling Red Bull on the track more often. Brown does not want to shy away from hard racing, but dirty racing does, he says. "We were prepared to go toe-to-toe. Nasty is not going to win," Brown said.

Brown on Red Bull racing mentality

"I think you can go toe-to-toe, but you don't have to be nasty about it.They seem to at times have a win at all costs mentality. That's not how we go racing, but we think you can go toe-to-toe and take the fight to them our own way," the 52-year-old Los Angeles man continued.

Yet the McLaren CEO also knows what it will take to beat the Dutchman. "So I think to win the Formula One World Championship, everyone needs to be at 100%. I think Lando's learning every time out there, right? He's got the benefit of one win. Max and Lewis, Schumacher, you know, I think when you've won as much as they've won, that gives you a lot of experience."

"So I think Lando's still getting that experience of winning Grand Prix's, which I think is great because the only way to get in is to get stuck in there," Brown said. "I think he's just going to continue to improve as a driver. I think he's perfectly capable of winning the World Championship now. But it doesn't mean he still can't get better. I think Max is a better driver. He's a better driver today than he was year one of his championship, year two of his championship."
