This is the most likely strategy for the 2024 British GP

The two Mercedes will line up on the front row of the grid, with Lando Norris and Max Verstappen trying to chase the two Silver Arrows down. Strategy could play a key factor in today's Grand Prix, with three teams' drivers aiming to win the race in the United Kingdom.

In Pirelli's preview, the Italians are clear in their message. No matter how one approach it, the one-stop is the quickest at the British Grand Prix. The fastest way to execute that is starting on the soft tyres, and then change for a set of medium tyres. Teams could also switch to hard tyres, depending on which compound their cars prefer. Alternatively, drivers could also start on the mediums, doing a reverse strategy, that was already tried out in Formula 2, but did not work.

For the Grand Prix, other than Sergio Perez and Charles Leclerc, no top team driver will have a new set of soft tyres available to them. Russell, Hamilton and Verstappen all have only one medium set at the front, while the McLaren drivers still have two available to them. Everyone on the grid have one new hard set of tyres left.

Of course, if rain does arrive, that all goes out of the window. As of now, Weather.com predict there is a 30% chance of rain at Silverstone, and conditions are now described to be 'isolated thunderstorms' at the track once the five red lights go out.
