Although the British Grand Prix started off dry, multiple drivers including Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris were warned that rain was on the way. It had already rained heavily across Friday and Saturday at Silverstone

Weather.com had already predicted a 40% chance of rain for Sunday's Grand Prix. However, multiple drivers were notified that rain was on the way. Max Verstappen was informed over the radio that increased rain would come around lap 16. Charles Leclerc was also told the same, with the conditions expected to last seven minutes.

With the predicted weather changes, teams needed to make a decision over which tyres to use. During lap 16, the rain arrived as predicted, but not heavily enough for wet tyres. Lap 27 though brought many drivers into the pits for intermediate tyres, including Verstappen, Hamilton, Norris and Russell. Oscar Piastri, who was in second at the time, stayed out. By lap 29, all drivers made the switch.
