Schumacher shared a photo of himself with his partner on Sunday. The timing of his post had everything to do with a joyous moment in the motorsport career of his son, David Schumacher. "David won in the GT Masters, just like the day before. It was the biggest success of his motorsport career so far. I thought this would be a good opportunity," the 49-year-old German told Sport1.

His son David was then among the first to react to his father's message. "I am very happy that you have finally found someone with whom you feel comfortable. Whether that is a man or a woman; I am 100 per cent behind you, Dad, and wish you all the best. Congratulations," said David Schumacher.

For Ralf's family, the news came as no surprise as he has been in a relationship with his current boyfriend for two years. "It was not news to family and close friends, they knew for a long time. But in the meantime, more and more people became aware. So I wanted to come out with the news myself," the former F1 driver explained.

Michael Schumacher's brother is grateful for all the support he and his partner have received since. "Thank you very much for the many congratulations and reactions. We are very happy and thank you all," Schumacher wrote in a post on Instagram.
