Karun Chandhok has received many hate messages after the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The former Formula One driver made a comment there about Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo becoming teammates. Many fans of Sergio Perez did not appreciate this comment.

During an interview with Sky Sports, Verstappen said he thought it would be fun to drive with Ricciardo in the same car at the festival. Chandhok then responded enthusiastically by saying the two drivers could become teammates. Perez was also standing right next to them during this interview.

Chandhok apologises

After this, the Indian reportedly received a lot of messages from fans of Perez. They disagreed with the way Chandhok had handled the Mexican. So on his Instagram, the former Formula One driver posted a story apologising: "To all the Mexican fans of Sergio Perez. I apologise if you felt I was being disrespectful to Checo during the Goodwood Festival of Speed."

Chandhok then explained that the interview was taken out of context: "If you watch the whole video instead of just the small edit that seems to be online, you will see that we are talking about Goodwood Revival and NOT F1. The Revival is a fun event and the level of trolling and abuse in the last four days from Checo's fans who have not understood the full story is a real shame. I hope this clears up the matter."
