Norris highlights a key Red Bull weakness ahead of Hungarian GP
Lando Norris will start from pole position, and his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri will support him on the front row of the grid. They will be trying to keep Max Verstappen behind, and Norris sees how McLaren are in a great position compared to their rival.
Verstappen will be left to attack the McLaren cars alone after his teammate, Sergio Perez, crashed in Q1 on Saturday. As a result, the Mexican will start from 16th place on the grid leaving Verstappen isolated.
How McLaren are in a 'great position'
First, Norris reported his prediction on race pace. "Fairly similar, honestly. [I have] good pace, but it's close," Norris said during the drivers' parade. "I'm on pole, but two guys within half a tenth of me. So it's not going to be easy, but we're in a good position, and as a team, we're in a great position. I'm excited to see what we can do."
Norris was then asked if he and Piastri have formed a plan. The Brit said "yes" but refused to go into details. "Pretty much the same as normal. So we both drive. We both want to fight. We both want to win. So just do what we normally do because that's always good."
Norris concluded by saying he has "a lot" of confidence in executing a good race at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
