Windsor slams Red Bull in rant: 'Who are they talking to?'
- Corwin Kunst
Max Verstappen has faced criticism from many for his manner of communication during the Hungarian Grand Prix, but there is one person who completely sides with the three-time world champion. Peter Windsor sides squarely with Verstappen and ranted precisely on Red Bull Racing for their treatment of the Dutchman.
"It's the best team in racing or was up until a couple of races ago. Max on the radio today was absolutely livid and he said whatever came into his head about the ridiculous strategy and it was a ridiculous strategy that Red Bull had allowed him to be undercut the whole time," Windsor began on his YouTube channel.
He ended up behind Lewis Hamilton, despite the RB20 being faster than the Mercedes driver's W15. "Every time he came out he had to pass or tried to pass Lewis Hamilton in the Mercedes. Despite two DRS zones, he was unable to do so and it ended in tears as well with the two colliding, Monza 2021 style going into turn one. "
Red Bull criticised by Windsor
Verstappen was already extremely frustrated and the contact with Hamilton did not make things any better. "Max was very upset after the race and that's the way a racing driver should be, I'm sorry, it sounded bad but for the team to get on the radio To Max Verstappen and say don't start talking about who was ahead at the apex, Max it's childish, to do that, childish! I mean who are they talking to, I can't believe a Red Bull employee said that to Max Verstappen in the middle of the race. I think it's absolutely appalling." Windsor said.
The 72-year-old analyst continued: "Maybe I'm the only person who thinks this, I think the world has gone mad. Lando Norris should have won that race, Red Bull should not have been speaking to Max Verstappen about that, they should have been apologizing on the radio for the strategy and trying to get the best from him in that respect." Windsor concluded.
