Holiday for Alpine and Aston Martin postponed after Belgian GP: Here's why
- Ludo van Denderen
After a very intense first half of the Formula 1 season, which took teams from Australia to the United States and from Asia to Europe, drivers and F1 staff are yearning for the holidays. After the Belgian Grand Prix at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit next weekend, it will be that time. For most teams. Two teams have to wait longer for the moment when they can be at the beach.
On the Tuesday after the concluding Grand Prix of the first part of the season in the Ardennes, there is another tyre test by Pirelli. This will take place on the Tuesday and Wednesday after the race. This time, two teams have been invited for this; namely Alpine and Aston Martin. It is still unknown which Pirelli tyres they will be testing.
Doohan in action for Alpine
The make-up of the line-up for the test will be revealed in the coming days. In any case, Jack Doohan will be in action in the aftermath of the Belgian Grand Prix. The Australian is the test and reserve driver for Alpine, which hopes to secure a regular spot in Formula 1 in '25. Doohan is in the race to become Esteban Ocon's successor at Alpine.
During the year, F1 teams take turns testing tyres for Pirelli. After the British Grand Prix early this month, for example, it was the turn of McLaren, which had Mick Schumacher at its disposal for the test. The Williams and Haas teams then also came into action at Silverstone.
