Ocon can't wait to partner up with this future British world champion
On Thursday, ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix weekend, Haas F1 announced the signing of their second driver for the 2025 season. Oliver Bearman's teammate will be Esteban Ocon. The Frenchman talked about the prospect of teaming up with the young Briton at the American team at Spa-Francorchamps.
Talking to GPblog among others, Ocon explained that he met Bearman back at the Hungaroring, where the young Briton drove a Haas car during the first free practice session. "I spoke to him actually in Budapest, that's probably the first time that we met. Ollie is a very young, exciting prospect in Formula 1, many people are saying that he is going to be a future world champion and I can't wait to be teaming up with him," the one-time Grand Prix winner praised Bearman.
"As I said he is going to be bringing also fresh blood into the team, new ideas, I am also going to try and add to the team and I am sure our collaboration is going to be great to lead this team forward and hopefully going where we want to go," Ocon explained how the partnership can be successful.
Ocon to ask Bearman for advice
Ocon himself also believes Bearman does not necessarily need advice from him, and added that it will possibly go the other way around instead. "I don't think Ollie needs my help on anything. He probably has more experience with the team than I will have next year. He's been driving a lot in FP1s, in testing as well. I'm probably going to have to ask him a lot more things than I will have to give him tips. There's not going to be any of that, I think. We're just going to be very open about the whole situation, trying to get the team to the right technical way very early on. That's going to start for sure quite quickly," the Frenchman explained.
